Slideshow Module file size question

I am currently teaching the Slideshow module and a very good questions came up. Students brought in a 20 of their own images to use for the slideshow module exercise. Students with small files were not able to have the image get larger when they resized the guides. The images in the Library module or the Develop module had no problem fitting the screen. Students who had medium sized files had a little larger image inside the guides but they image never changes size when the guides are moved. However, there was no problem in the Library or Develop module fitting the screen. I have never come across this before. If you have imported full size camera files from which to design the Collection and Slideshow, there doesn't seem to be a issue. If you export from a home computer and them Import in another computer ie. MacLab at school, is there a file size requirement in order to have the slide show images play at a decent size? So, it appears the SS module doesn't up-size the files on the fly..and if it did, it might stutter..  What you might consider, from a quality control point of view is to take your 20 and crop each one to the screen-size ratio (say 16:9), then color grade them, develop etc .. then export them forcing up-reszing and sharpening to 1920 (and then other side would fall to 1080). Re-import the finished result back into LR into a separate folder (so as not to confuse) and put that in the SS.

I've only even down-sized them.

But this would have the benefit of evening out the quality.

Thank you. I will pass this on to the class as a work around but it seems odd that this would be necessary given that it is written about otherwise. Barbara
