Lightroom: Skips files on import!

I was importing from a CF card that was shot with RAW+JPEG option, about 600 total files, and for the first 80 or so it copied correctly, but then stopped copying the NEF files and only copied the JPG's. If I had walked away and not noticed this, and subsequently re-used the card, I'd be really upset. I ended up copying the card to a HD and then importing it and it worked fine.

What is the option "Treat JPEGs files next to raw files as separate files" set to.

It's set to treat separately, but that doesn't matter in this case as it just stopped importing RAW's at a random spot. Nothing special occurred with that photo. I did not touch the settings while it was importing, I just noticed that it speeded up all of a sudden.

I just want to know what the settings were.

I have no idea what is going on here, but if I were you I'd be suspicious of the CF card. This sounds like an interesting variation on media corruption. raw image are much larger than JPEGs, and so something could be failing during sustained reads.

I immediately copied the files to an external drive and it worked fine, and I have never had any problems before or since with that card. With all of the other flaky problems I'm having with LR4, it is my prime suspect at this time, but I'll keep an eye on it to see if it is repeatable.

I was under a deadline and did not have time to research this further, I just needed the files, though I did note where it stopped.

This sounds like a bug that was fixed in the Lightroom 4.1 RC2 build.

Happened again, this time with two different CF cards so it is not a media error.

I imported 2700 files, alternating NEF and JPG, from 2 16GB cards and 2 8GB cards. A total of 21 photos were not imported, I caught it when I re-inserted the card to copy to a HD, had LR running, and the import started and showed me more files to import. One card did all of the missing, but with the 2nd it took 3 different tries with a decreasing number of 'new' files each time.

Both of the CF cards were almost full, but not quite. This is the first time I've shot both RAW+JPG since the other errors happened, but this time it was a mix of both file types that were skipped.

It was only pure luck that I didn't reuse the cards and write over some important photos.
