Lightroom CC 2015: Crashes/freezes and won't allow me to quit and backup catalog. Please help asap

Since updating to Lightroom 5 to CC as part of my Creative Cloud subscription I constantly get the error message that Lightroom cannot back up my catalog. It advises me to check my disk permissions and available space on the drive where the back up is located. it offers me the option to try again, quit, or choose another location. None of these options actually work though. So I end up having to force quit and try again. Any advice?

Hi Linda,

What OS/version are you running Lightroom on? Have you installed all the updates so you have Lightroom CC 2015.3 installed?

Thank you for replying quickly.
I have to check what OS version I have when I get home from work. I think it is current up to, but not including, the latest update but I need to check. My worry is that if I do a force quit I will loose all the work I've done in LR since it won't let me back the catalog up.
