Lightroom 4.1: Blurb problems Shrinking photographs and twisting pages!

I thought I should share a few findings I have been sharing with Blurb Support in the hope that you might shed some light on a few concerns I now have with the lightroom 4 book module. I have just upgraded to 4.1 on the recommendation of Blurb support.

I have a 6 core Mac pro with 8gig of Ram, I created a book in lightroom which I sent to blurb and it was delivered looking as I expected and was very happy with it. On analysis I noticed one typo which I corrected, upgraded the paper and re sent with an order for 5 further copies.
The following is part of my correspondence with Milisa at Blurb support.

"I shall use the back cover image as an example. The first book printed well as we know and only had a typo I wished to correct.

After upgrading the paper and correcting the typo for the purposes of the reprint, I see that lightroom 4 has somehow converted many of the images (including the cover pages) into 600x397 images. This it has done all on its own! These clearly can only pixilate at that page size. You can see that the original sent in the first book for the back cover was 3696x2448 in size- a considerable difference. Unfortunately this was not evident at the time of pressing the button “Send book to Blurb”. How does one ensure this doesn’t happen again?

The other strange anomaly is that all of the text that I wrote in the first book lightroom catalogue has vanished altogether.

Lastly even with these strange occurrences, the 2nd ‘book’ folder in lightroom 4 does not have photos twisted about the page as occurred in the actual printed books you sent me. So some other further corruption must have taken place by the time you received it.

Lastly there are no page numbers in the printed material despite the fact that the pages are numbered in lightroom and I would like to know if there is a way to display that numbering in the printed book.

I do hope you find these points of interest and I would certainly appreciate any further guidance before I press “Send to Blurb” again. I am grateful for the credit that you have offered me and wish to be certain that when I resubmit my book it is picture perfect!

I am looking forward to producing a number of books with you so clearing up these issues will be very useful.

Many thanks

Milisa recommended I contact you directly and hope you can shed some light (excuse the pun!) on what may have happened and how to insure it doesn’t happen again.

Kind regards
