Lightroom 5.4: Sharpness lost when exporting

Hi I am new to this site, but I am experiencing a very similar problem.

I just downloaded Lightroom version 5.4. When I switch from Develop mode to Library mode, my sharpening edits disappear. I also loose the sharpening when I export to jpeg.

Any suggestions?

Can you compare the Develop and Library views at 1:1 view and see if there's still a difference? At extreme sharpening values, the Fit view in Develop isn't always accurate.

To add to what Victoria said (paraphrased: less-sharp view in "sub-1:1" (reduced) resize ratios in library module is to be expected):

Slightly softer exports are to be expected too unless you apply output sharpening.

Question: are your exports fully sharpened when you apply standard output sharpening? (judge at 1:1 - no other zoom ratio will do). If so, then we're done here (as far as the export part of the problem anyway).

If not, then you need to determine whether develop sharpening is being applied to exports, and whether output sharpening is being applied to exports.

To do that, export a copy with full sharpening, and one with no sharpening (do develop sharpening test with output sharpening at zero, THEN do output sharpening test with develop sharpening at zero).

Compare exports at 1:1.

If no difference in zero sharpening and full sharpening, then there's a bug, if there is a difference, but it doesn't seem like enough or whatever, then we need to really talk to nail down what's happening..

PS - If you like your exports extra-sharp, then set output sharpening to "high" - that's what it's for!

Thanks so much, I figured out the problem. It had to do with export sharpening.
