[I've tried to use the new names below]

I use LR Classic and have it installed on my home desktop PC and a laptop. I also run a "day job" laptop which comes with me when I travel for business. I cannot take my home laptop with me as well.

At the moment, I have to deactivate my LR Classic on my home laptop and then activate the version on my work laptop for editing images taken while I am away on business.

With the new LR CC software, can I:

Have LR CC installed and active all the time on my Work Laptop?
When the images upload to the cloud, can I access them from my LR Classic desktop when I get back?  i.e. does it synch to my catalog the same way LR Mobile did?

If not, is there a way to export the edits from the new LR CC so I can import my images into my desktop PC?

If not, is there some way I can synch LR CC to LR Classic so I am not running two separate image collections?

Or should I just continue with the deactivate/activate methodology I use now?

Or in short - can someone explain plain and simple how exactly can you utilize CC and Classic, how is it done exactly?

With Lightroom CC your images are synced throughout the ecosystem. This is taken from the common questions section of the Lightroom CC help page found at:

Can I use Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic CC together?

Yes. To sync between Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic, you must use Lightroom Classic version 7.0 or later.

Any photos that you've synced from Lightroom Classic are available in Lightroom CC as a Smart Preview. If you import photos into Lightroom CC, the full resolution originals of your photos sync back to Lightroom Classic.

I hope that helps.

That is the most ridiculous workflow I've ever heard.

It's the same workflow in prior versions of Lightroom. The significant changes are storage of original images to the cloud and the introduction of a new desktop app (Lr CC). What is ridiculous is the names of the new products.

Whats confusing is why you say "new" desktop app. LR Creative Cloud Photography Program (LR & PS) and LR6 Stand-alone both install to the desktop. At least in Windows I can't vouch for Mac. So please if you will explain what is new about a desktop version other than maybe new features or the absence there of?

This only seems to address syncing photos from LR Classic to LR CC.  How about syncing in the other direction?  For example a travel laptop set up with LR CC  and then syncing to a local hard drive on a home desktop for fine-tuning the photos in LR Classic.  Is there any loss of information when going from LR CC to Classic?  Will the native camera  EXIF/metadata associated with raw files be carried through to the desktop?
