Hello:) I exported a lightroom folder as a catalog so my friend could work on it and then send it back to me. However when she tries to import it into her lightroom, it says file cant be found. Any ideas how she can open it and work on the smart previews? TIA!

Some questions.....

1)  Did you include Original files when you did the export as catalog?

2)  Is friend just trying to Open the catalog you sent her or is she opening her regular catalog and trying to import the one you sent (i.e. merge it into her regular catalog)?

3)  Either way, in order to open an LR catalog it must be on a locally attached hard drive (on your friends computer in this case).  If you put it in Drop Box or Googe Drive or any such cloud service your friend must copy it to her C drive or a drive directly attached to her computer (not a network drive or cloud storage)

4)  If #3 is not the issue, and she was trying to merge the catalog (i.e. "Import from another catalog"), instead just try to open the transferred catalog (double click on the xxxx.lrcat file or select it in the Open A different catalog dialog box.

5)  If that worked, and she wants to merge catalogs, make sure that when she's trying to "import from catalog" she's pointing to the .lrcat file

Thanks so much Dan!
She is trying to "import from another catalog" into her own catalog. But after she double clicks on the .lrcat file, it says "file can't be found".
Please see attached image for what I included in the export.
So she needs to copy these files I attached onto her hard drive?

is the folder containing the .lrcat file on a hard disk drive directly attached to her computer?
