I purchased adobe photoshop elements 12 a couple months ago and just recently tried to install it. It keeps telling me that the SN on the box is incorrect. I have not tried to install before and can't find another number anywhere inside the box.

Are you confusing the redemption number (which you have to enter on Adobe's website to get a serial number) with a serial number (which is generated, then you enter into the software)?

I could be. The website said it should have been on the box that I purchased but none of the number on the back are correct.

An Elements serial number is 24-digits, no letters, and begins with the 1057. Don't post your codes on a public forum.

A redemption code is 24 letters and numbers, and can be converted to a serial number, once only, using this webpage:

I just tried to use the codes on my box to get a serial number through the web site and none of them are long enough. The SN to activate the product looks like the one I should be using but it is only 19 characters long. Could it be possible I waited too long to activate the software?

None of the codes are ON the box, they will be inside the box.

The serial number is 24 digits starting with 1057.

The redemption code is 24 seemingly random letters and numbers.

19 characters wouldn't be either thing.

PSE13 has been the only version of Elements available since late last summer, at least from Adobe.

Where did you get Elements 12 so recently?

Best Buy. I have had it for a little while but I don't think as long as last summer. My next step is going to be contacting Best Buy.

I bought my Elements from Best Buy and the box had a redemption code on the inside packaging. Best Buy also has to scan a barcode on the outside of the box at the cashiering station to activate the redemption code. That prevents people from stealing boxes and having them work.

Did you buy it online or at a brick-and-mortar store.

I actually went into the store and our based it. The code was scanned in the back when it was purchased. I have looked at everything that came inside the box and have not found anything with a 24 character code. I have a internet security disk that came with it that has one but not on anything that has to deal with the actual Photoshop.

My version of Elements is Premier and Photoshop Elements in the same package.

There is an outer box that has an inner box along with a couple pamphlets.

The inner box is in a sleeve and once that is remove is generally white.

Inside the inner box is an envelope with in my case two disc sleeves that contain the Windows and Mac install DVDs.

Besides those two disc envelopes, within that inner box, there is another square card that has the picture of an old camera on one side and is black on the other side except for some white text how to retrieve your serial number from Adobe using the redemption code, and then a white label with black writing that is the redemption code, itself:

That card with the white label containing the redemption code is really the only thing you paid for as the installer that comes on the discs can be downloaded from Adobe.com.

Ok. I did not have that card when I opened the box so that must be why none of the numbers are working. I will have to look to make sure it didn't drop out anywhere but it is helpful to know what I am looking for!

For PSE13, then the situation is similar, except the card is white and the writing is black with a few lines of color. The redemption code is still black on a white label.
