Camera Raw: Sending NEF-File from LR 7.3 Classic to PS CC will not open in ACR

When i want to edit an RAW-File (NEF) from LR Classic 7.3 in Photoshop CC 2018, it doesn ́t open in PS with ACR. So i open the Camera Raw filter manually and there are not all new camera-profiles visible and the settings from the LR Classic raw-module are not visible - all sliders set to zero.

When i open the RAW-File directly with Photoshop, the file opens correctly with ACR and i can use all new profiles.

What is going wrong when i am sending a raw-file from LR to Photoshop.
Someone showed a video on youtube, and there i could see that the LR-adjustments are visible exactly identically in ACR.

System: Windows 7, all programs updatet to latest version.

Rainer,

When you open a file in Photoshop from Lightroom, if you choose the option: Open as a Smart Object in Photoshop instead of Edit in Photoshop, it will create a smart object in Photoshop that, when double-clicked, will open up Camera Raw.

Try this an let us know if it solves your issue.

No, the same problem.

1) In LR i save with Ctrl-S the XMP-data.

2) In Adobe Bridge, right-click and open within camera-raw, all LR adjustments and the used profile and all other profiles are visible. - OK!

3) In Adobe Bridge double-click the NEF-File and it opens in Photoshop with carmera-raw. Also here are all LR adjustments and used profile and all other profiles are visible. - OK!

4) Open the NEF-File with PS: File opens in camera-raw, LR adjustmenst and the used profile and all other profiles are visible. - OK!

5) In Lightroom: Open wit external Editor PS or open as smart object in PS:
File doesn ́t open with camera-raw. File looks like in LR but using camera-raw filter all adjustmens set to zero and also the profile is lost and profile and others ar not visible in camera raw. - NOK!

If you send a file from Lightroom to Photoshop it does not open in Camera Raw. It never did, so this is working exactly as expected.

If you open the file as smart object, then you should not use Camera Raw as filter, but double click the smart object layer. That will open Camera Raw with the Lightroom settings.

In #5 the file will never open in Camera Raw on being sent from Lightroom but Camera Raw will launch when you double-click the Smart Object.  Those settings (Slider Values and Profiles) should be preserved when Camera Raw launches.

Using Camera Raw as a filter instead of opening the Smart Object natively will always set the image sliders to zero.

Thank ́s Johan and Rikk. That is it. Double-Click on the smart objects layer then i see the LR-adjustments and the profile and all other profiles.

OK, i have to accept this, when i send the file directly to PS and using the camera-raw filter, that all adjustments will be set to zero.
What i don ́t understand is, that in this way a lot of profiles not visible in the camera-raw filter.

But, thank ́s again.

Camera raw as filter is not exactly the same as camera raw as raw-converter.
