Sending 300dpi JPEG via email results in resizing issues

I'm creating a document at 300dpi. Typically its 4x6. When I save the document as a JPEG, it looks fine and shows up correctly on my computer (Mac).
However, when I send the file via email, it's showing up to others at just a few inches in size and at 72 dpi. When when I go back and open the file from the sent email, it's showing up the wrong size for me.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling PS; I have CS4. It did nothing, didn't even get rid of settings that were in there. I googled reverting to default settings, but that didn't work either.
Is this a PS issue or is the email doing something? It's just a recent issue, I've never had this happen before.

Which OS version are you using?
What email client are you using?

It sounds like your email program is changing the size of the image.

Reinstalling Photoshop won't change what your email program does to your images.
