Photoshop: Select layer at playhead

Feature request for 2D animators

Current behavior in video/timeline mode, with shortcuts enabled:
Left and Right arrow keys (and Page Dn/Up) move playhead one frame left and right. (However, the selected layer remains the same, which means the user is looking at a different layer than the layer which is selected and cannot draw on the currently visible layer until it is selected using alt+bracket or with the mouse/stylus.)

Desired behavior:
Modifier+L/R arrow (or just Pg Dn/Up without a modifier) moves playhead AND selected layer in sync with exposures/clip (not just just frame)

Benefit:
This enables animators to flip through their animations, seeing how they look and feel, and to immediately (without using the mouse/stylus to select the current layer in the timeline) draw directly on the image that needs attention.

Hi Clem. I don't know, but my workaround is this hotkey script: https://thomasalberti.com/tools/
Hope it helps.

Yes, this feature would dramatically improve the ease with which animators can work in Photoshop.
What I would also love to see is if scrubbing the playhead would also update the selected layer, so that on scrubbing both the view on the canvas updates and the current exposure/layer is selected. Basically the very same feature, but using playhead scrubbing to move along the timeline.
