Neither "Haus" nor "Boot" or "Katze". Hilarious.

Hi Martin,
Which LR client are you using (desktop, web, mobile)? And is the language of that client set to German? That will help us to trouble shoot why German search is not working for you.
Thanks,
Richard

I'm pretty sure that Lightroom CC can only search using Sensei in English. It obviously should find images with German keywords, but AI is only English for the time being.

I've verified that it works on my system using Sensei search. In LR preferences you have to set your language to German. And it is probably also good to set your language and region to Germany in your system settings. Also make sure you are not searching in an Album that may not contain any Dog or Boat photos, but instead search in All Photos. I've checked German and Dutch from my Mac here in the US and was able to search successfully in both.

Good to hear, but that only works with Lightroom CC for desktop. Lightroom CC for iOS does not have its own language setting (I use English for my system settings). Not that I mind much, I'm happy to use English for searches.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Lightroom CC: Image search (Sensei) only works in english.

Sensei and searching by tags works gerate, but as I found out at least German keywords does not work as good as English. No match for "Boot" but 160 matches for "boat". So please add a noteable comment that people enter English search terms or offer a in place search term translation.

Sensei doesn't work with german keywords although the language is set to German in the preferences.

beach  200         Strand  4 (2 missmatches)
mountain 200  Berg 0
boat 200             Boot 14 (13 missmatches)

200 seems to  be the maximum amount for matches.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Sensei and 'non-english'.

Is it expected that the Sensei search understands English words only? Dog or Hedgehog finds the correct images whereas Hund and Igel (German) returns the black hole only.

Further testing shows it as a bug:
When I manually set the language to German, everything works as expected. However, if the language is set to Automatic, it does not, even if the language picked by CC is German and the GUI is shown in German.

Hi McLion,
Can you confirm if you are seeing this issue on windows, mac or both without changing the language from the application preferences?

Some of the issues around search are now fixed in the latest 1.5 release, that includes searching for non-English terms. Could you please update the build and share your feedback?

Great! Tested the same scenario and it seems to be fixed.
