PHOTOSHOP CS5 - Scrubby Zoom Stopped Working With Character Leading

Hi. I am trying to figure out how to get my scrubby zoom working with character leading again. It has worked for years for me; and yesterday it stopped working with the scrubby ... maybe because I started using Encore more last night?

What happens is this:

I make a new text area, go over to my character window, hover over the leading symbol --- and the scrubby zoom does not come up like it used to. The symbol also looks a bit different and has a little line over it.

I use leading all the time, so this really slows things down (and I am trying to finish off a series of graphics for my wedding). Anyone else have this problem or -- better yet -- a solution?

I am using
Windows 7 Home Premium
Dell XPS 8100 64 bit
8 gigs of RAM
Photoshop CS5.1 64bit
Version 12.1

PS: I love Adobe and look forward to getting this ironed out :)

Have you tried this in the current version of Photoshop (CC 2014)?
You're 3 full versions behind the current release (15.2.2).

Hiya, Chris. Nope. I tend to stick with software 5-7 years before moving on.

I did find a work around into the wee hours this morning, though.
After I select my text tool (but before I make my text box) I go to the 'tool preset picker' and choose 'Horizontal Type Minion Pro...' as opposed to 'Horizontal Type Myriad Pro...'

When I do this the little line above the leading symbol goes away, and I can use the scrubby zoom again. Weird, though.

PS: But, Chris ... I don't mind if you send me a free copy of CC2014 ;)

Howdy Mara,

There was a bug with the scrubbies in a number of type-facing controls.  We fixed that bug more than years ago in CS6.  It might be worth it to update to the latest version...

Thanks,
David

Thanks, David! CS6 Production Premium clocks in at around 2-grand. I am not saying it's not worth every penny (Adobe software rocks) but it is steep for a bug fix, lol. I am fully accepting of a gift from you to me, but -- barring that -- the work-around I figured out is good enough until I am ready for the newest version in a year or two. I await version 20.5.5 with a software key that is embedded in my ocular nerve. The cloud will be history -- here come the borgs!
