PHOTOSHOP CC - Screen Goes Black While Editing on MacOS 10.6.8

The last month or so, when editing in Photoshop CC on my Mac 10.6.8, the screen often goes completely black. For awhile I thought it was an issue with my computer, but then realized it only happens when I am working in PS.

I've done some research and noticed some people suggest updating the video driver or GPU or something like that. I'm not a techy kind of person. I'm just wondering if this is my solution and if it is, how would I go about doing this?

Try disabling GPU drawing in Photoshop's preferences, then restarting Photoshop.

Photoshop CC requires at least OS X 10.7.

Thank you. I just discovered that I don't have enough vram MB, so I was suggested to switch it from Advanced to Basic. Hopefully that helps. If not, I may look into seeing if I can downgrade my Photoshop. Not sure how I'd go about that, but I can't invest in a new computer at this time and Apple suggested if I wanted to update again, I should look into getting a new computer because it's too risky with how old mine is.
