Scanning and Photoshop Elements

I purchased Elements under the mistaken impression (from the salesperson online) that I could scan items using my Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner via Photoshop Elements. Now I learn (from technical support) that Elements no longer supports TWAIN devices. Why not? Why remove a feature like this?

The TWAIN plugin should still be an optional download.

But TWAIN support is no longer default because so many scanner drivers were causing crashes (which users could rarely diagnose) that took down Photoshop, and scanner vendors were not fixing the problems in their driver code.

It really is better to scan in a stand alone application -- so when it crashes, you don't take down Photoshop and the rest of your work.

Does the optional download work with Mac OSX 10.8? The technical support person did not mention this optional download.

See this: http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/e...

And ignore the part about Rosetta (not sure why that's there - I'll have to ask someone to clean up that article).

Crashed and trashed my Elements 6. after 4 years of flawless Twain...scan to Elements instantly.

I have a tedious work around for my 8800F Canon,, a time waster
that works with Elements 11. CANON defers to Adobe elements
offering zero support....citing no TWAIN that works!
