I require some advice before I start selling my digital art work for living primarily online.

The method would be to draw on an A4 size paper and then scan the design to Adobe Photoshop and colour the design using Photoshop. The design maybe either landscape or portrait. I have tried this method in past and after adding colours to the designs the designs looked extraordinary. Now I must focus on perfection in printing for selling.

The design could be printed on various items such as greeting card, posters or even a wall mural by the request of customer. These items vary in size and the design will originate from the A4 size paper.

I would like to know about one of the most important aspect of the digital art design and that is the resolution for the initial scanning of the design from the A4 Size paper to Adobe Photoshop. What is the standard and desired dpi I must choose when scanning so that when this design is printed on greeting cards, posters or wall murals, the lines of the design remain sharp and clear and the final quality of these design on products are exceptionally acceptable for selling? Are there any other options I should choose or consider or include prior to scanning?

I would appreciate any advice on scanning to Adobe Photoshop.Thank you in advance.
