Saving Workspaces vs Saving Overall Preferences

I am an instructor at a design school teaching Photoshop.  I have specific workspace and brush preset requirements I use in my class, but since all the computers are on a network, everyone's preferences get wiped every time they log off. Every time we open Photoshop, the workspace is filled with all sorts of windows and things that are unneccesary for the type of work we are doing, and which need to be removed in order to free up screen space.  About the only thing I can preserve are tool presets, which I have my students load from a shared folder before each class, but even that is a hassle.

It sure would be nice to have a simple Preferences functionality that allows you to save and load preference files which would instantly set up your workspace and any other personalized change in one fell swoop.  Then the students could keep their preference file on a thumbdrive or network drive and load them before class and be all set.

Ps since at least cs4 has workspaces which save the layout and most preferences.
