I am saving photos from videos opened in photoshop. Every time I open the save as dialog box it defaults to tiff. I want to save as jpeg's. With out being able to change the default, it just adds and extra step in the process.

Videos are layered files, and JPEG does not support layers. That is why Photoshop defaults to TIFF. If you want to save a photo from a video as JPEG, flatten first.

use Export Layers to Files.
