Saving Bug

When you save, some items will save and some will hang at 99%. You can either wait which so far hasn't got me anywhere or you can force quit in high case you will corrupt the file and any files before that and then in order to open photoshop you have to turn your computer/laptop off and on again.
Updated the app and still happened. Tried changing preferences and will see if that works (another user said it did for a while and then didn't) and then I will try saving internally rather than USB but adobe takes up so much storage that I'm running out!

Unofficial reply: (I am a Photoshop user with a lot of hardware experience)

It sounds to me that you may not have enough system RAM and/or drive space available. If there isn't enough RAM in the machine, things get swapped out to disk, as "swap files" or virtual memory. If there also is not enough space on the drive, then even the needed swapping cannot be completed.

Would you post hardware details, so I can take a look?
Amount of system RAM
Amount of Video RAM
how big is hard drive and how full is it
what is CPU
what is age of computer (approx) and what is OS that is in use
what is reason for using an USB attached storage drive?
What other programs are also running when this happens
