Save For Web Truncates Filename

When using filenames with multiple dots/periods unexpected filenames result when using Save For Web.

Example, I have a folder of JPG files. They have been batch renamed using Bridge to include a set identifier, four digit number sequence, and file extension. Such as "E321.0123.jpg".

In Photoshop I use Batch automation of a recorded Action which: adds a watermark, resizes to a large thumbnail, saves to a subfolder, resizes to a small thumbnail, and saves to another subfolder, then closes without saving.

I have verified the settings of the Save For Web steps recorded with the action are set to preserve the filename and extension.

When running the batch action on filenames such as "E321.0123.jpg" the filename is truncated to "E321.jpg" -- resulting in the middle portion missing.

If I use filenames with a single dot this does not occur. Such as: "E321-0123.jpg" -- the Save For Web results in the filename preserved when saving to a subfolder.

My solution in production has been to use dashes instead for the Adobe portion of this workflow. Then a server side script monitors the image folders and renames files to the expected schemas as they arrive in the image folder.
