Runtime Error C++ Potoshop CS4

I've been running CS4 on my computer (OS Vista) for a few years. Recently, I downloaded the Photoshop CS6 beta version, and was able to run either version during my trial period. When my trial version expired, I used the uninstall tool from the Control Panel to uninstall PS CS6. Now, when I try to run Photoshop CS4, I get a:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library "Runtime Error Program: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Photoshop.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusal way. Please contact the application's support team for more information"

The thing is, I created another user account to see if I could run it from there, and I can, but all of my actions/preferences/brushes etc... are gone. Back to square one. Adobe Reader also seems to be affected on my main account, BUT Illustrator and InDesign work fine (so far).

I also tried this CS Cleaner tool and nothing happened: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/...

I'm working at half my regular pace now, having to switch back and forth between my accounts to use Photoshop, and without the actions/brushes, etc... I've created in the past 3 years. Is there a way to at least make Photoshop work on my main account?

If you can run it from another account, then the problem is in your first account's settings or preferences.

have you tried resetting Photoshop preferences on the first account?

I'm not sure how to do that as I can't start Photoshop at all.

control-alt-shift while launching Photoshop.

Or go to the preferences folder and delete the contents.

When I C-A-S while launching, I get the Photoshop Properties box.

I'm not sure where the preferences folder is...I don't see it in the PHotoshop CS4 folder...
