Photoshop: Rotate View shortcut (r) should behave as hold-down toggle like Spacebar with the Hand tool.

Many other drawing programs like Toon Boom and TVPaint have a similar Rotate view tool. What makes them useful is the fact that once releasing its keyboard shortcut, you are back to the tool you were previously using, making the painting process seamless. The spacebar works great in this fashion in Photoshop, but using the Rotate View tool is jarring, since I have to reselect the paintbrush or press "B" after every adjustment.
If an artist at his desk had to set his pen down every time he wanted to adjust his drawing paper, he would get very frustrated.
Hold-down toggle should be an option for the Rotate View tool, and it would be extremely easy for developers to implement. An extra step might be to allow hold-down toggle as an option for any tool shortcuts in the Keyboard Shortcuts menu.

What makes you think it’s different in Photoshop?
The Rotate View Tool is spring-loaded so keeping R pressed, rotating, then releasing should return you to the previously selected Tool just fine.

Haha, I just tried this and it does work. I had spent an hour in the support chat and they were saying it wasn't possible. Now I am discovering that pretty much all tools work this way. If I hold down any tool shortcut and use the tool while the key is still pressed, I automatically switch back to the previous tool once the key is released.
I was merely testing by merely seeing if the cursor icon would change regardless of using the tool, like it does with spacebar.
This is a very cool feature I wasn't aware of. Thanks for the help!

Now I’ve learned something from you – I had not noticed that this also applies to so many other Tools, too.
