Elements: Returning photo to floating view

Working in the latest Elements, (though this has always been a glitch for me in Elements).....  I like to work with my photos floating, so I can drag them around.  Unfortunately, Elements will very easily snatch the photo and lock it to the workspace window if you are not very careful when dragging the photo within the workspace.  Question:  How do you return it to floating view in one step.  I always have to click on the "x" to close it and then re-open the file.  There must be a way to toggle back to floating view but I can't find it.  Thanks!

Have a look at the the row of icons on the bottom bar. You can switch from floating to other types of layouts by clicking on the "layout" icon.

You can also go to Preferences>General and uncheck Enable Floating Document Window Docking

in addition, instead of the above you can hold down the Cmd or Ctrl key while moving the floating window to prevent docking.
