Hi there!
When you want to resize an object or text frame; You have to reeaally delicately put your cursor EXACTLY at the right place. Or else the resize handle just doesn't appear. That's pretty annoying. Right? :) Hope that's something to be improved, finally!

Hi, which product are you referring to? Photoshop CS5, Elements, Lightroom, etc?

Photoshop CS5 that is. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. These resize arrows have a mind of their own!

What OS/version are you running Photoshop on?

Is your Photoshop up to date? http://adobe.ly/PS-Up-To-Date

Is your video card driver up to date using the latest driver directly from the nVidia or ATI/AMD website? http://adobe.ly/OpenGL

It's been like this on every OS and version i've known so far.
Right now i'm running OSX Lion, and my Photoshop CS5 is up to date.

Especially text fields are giving this 'trouble'.

An example:

Why is it even possible for the 'text-select-cursor' (that's probably not what it's called, but the thing you use to select text / the way your cursor looks inside of a text field) symbol to appear outside of an active text field...

Try it: Create a text field and then put your cursor on the middle-right resize point. Even when moving your cursor slightly to the right / out of the text field, the text-select-cursor stays visible. While it should obviously change to a resize arrow...

It makes no sense being able to select text outside of a text field. And it makes it rather tricky and complicated to find the EXACT right place where this resize arrow DOES appear.

:)

Hope to have made that a little bit clear, and hope people are able to replicate it.

It's just these small annoyances you start finding, after using photoshop for a long time.

Can you replicate it at all?

I'll make a screenshot if it's still unclear.
Cheers!

This is the most annoying thing about editing text in photoshop. Resizing the text area is like playing Operation.

To be able to resize a text area I have to get the cursor slightly under the handle box or near the side. Moving the cursor directly over it does nothing.

I've owned Photoshop for work since CS2 and this has always been a problem on every OS, version update, and computer I've worked on.

I was hoping that by CS6 this would be fixed.
