Lightroom Classic: Add to Collection in Post Processing menu after export

When I'm exporting PSD or DNG files to jpg's, I'd like to be able to have the exported jpg files automatically added to a specific Collection after export. It would be a great time saver for those who utilize collections for organization.
For example, add a setting in the Export window-> Post-processing -> After export drop-down menu to select and add to a specific collection.

Why do you want to import them in the catalog in the first place? The whole idea about Lightroom is that you can export an image if and when you need it, with the properties you need. Because you can do this every time again, there is no need to keep the exported images and import them again. That only clutters your organisation.

I understand your point, but why should I have to export the same image multiple times if the properties don’t need to be changed? So, after the first export, I want them in the catalog through which I can put them in different Collections for different types of organizational purposes.

The idea is that you simply export them again if and when needed, so you don't have to store several different versions of the same image in your catalog, even if they would be managed in different collections. To me that is one of the strengths of Lightroom.

And if you really want to do this, consider using publishing services to your hard disk rather than exporting. That will give you your collections (inside the publishing service) and also makes sure that you do not use an exported image where you have changed the edits of the original in the meantime.

That’s a very useful suggestion, thanks. And, I still would request the “add to a collection after export” be considered by Adobe.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Lightroom: add image to collection on export.

It is not currently possible to easily identify which images I have previously exported using Lightroom.

Looking at the Export dialog, there is "Add to Catalog" and "Add to stack".

How about adding "Add to collection" so that it is possible to build a collection that consists of all of the images that you export?

While waiting to see if Adobe implements this, you could use the Run Any Command plugin to do this.

Thank you John R. Ellis. I didn't think of checking JF's for a possible solution. I've used some of his others in the past. I'll give it a try.
