Which specific version of Photoshop? Have you installed all the updates?

What OS version are you using?

What does the detailed crash report say?

Most of the Lighting Effects crashes we see are due to bugs in outdated video card drivers.

Photoshop CC 2014, Mac OSX Yosemite, (latest version)

Photoshop 2014 2.2 release

I forward the crash report automatically, my video card is on the latest update, I have had to restart the mac a couple of times, there is nothing in the recovered files bin.

I am using my IMAC when this happens, so have moved onto my Macbook Pro, and that is working fine. So managed to finish the job,

Alright, on MacOS 10.10 you may be hitting some of the video card driver bugs introduced in MacOS 10.10 (which affect any app using the GPU). Apple is aware of these driver issues, and is working on solutions to them.

If you had to restart the machine, then that is very likely the OS driver bugs.

We've also seen one crash in Lighting Effects in the UI code, but it isn't super common - and the team is working on a solution.

I can't tell for sure what you're hitting without the full crash report, and I'm not in the office right now to look up existing reports in our database.

Thank you for looking into in it, if it was a personal job I wouldnt have minded, but had lost quite a bit of time and this was a paying job. So glad that I could remember what I did to get the job done. However please dont think that I am whinging, still think the application is top class. One of my colleagues keeps reminding me the program is in permanent beta mode. So save as you go. Thank you for helping out. I do appreciate it.

If you're not already, please make sure you include your email address with your crash logs: http://adobe.ly/gNJWVY

If you need to adjust the automatic setting to include your email address, here are instructions: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite...

You may be able to dig out existing crash logs from here to post:
/Users//Library/Logs/Adobe/LogTransport/

You may need to use Method two in this document to access hidden user library files in OS X 10.7 or later: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/gl...
