If I rename a photo (with F2) a totally different name than the photo clicked appears. Very uncomfortable. Maybe I am doing something wrong though.

Hi Dietmar,

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you explain more?

Lets say I have three images:

picture_house.tif
picture_car.tif
picture_car-edit.tif

Now I decide to delete picture_car.tif and want to rename picture_car-edit.tif to picture_car.tif. I press F2 and the renaming dialogue opens.

Now instead of the filename picture_car-edit.tif I see picture_house.tif so I have to delete the entire form and reenter the complete name.

Does that help as a description?

Maybe this is only affecting the German version though.

Which preset is listed in the "File Naming" drop down box?

My guess is that you have Custom Text selected. This will remember the last text you used as custom text. So, if you previously renamed another file to picture_house, it will remember that and offer that again. Custom Text is just text that you type in, it has nothing to do with the file's current name.

There is no dynamic process to simply remove some characters from an existing file name. In this case, you basically will have to retype the name you want as Custom Text.

Why not rename it in the Metadata Panel by clicking on the file name and typing what you want?
