Renaming a catalog in PSE 6.0 Loses all metadata

I used the catalog manager in PSE6 to rename "My Catalog" to something more meaningful, and all metadata is now lost -- the organizer says there are 0 items to display using any of the Display options (thumbnail, import batch, folder location).
All of the files still exist so, in theory, I can create a new catalog by re-importing all the files, but this isn't a viable option since I have (had?) over 50,000 photos cataloged and tagged.

Renaming the catalog from the catalog manager does not change its contents. It does not either if you rename the catalog OUTSIDE of the organizer.
If you don't find your media, that must be because the renamed catalog is not opened, it's another empty one.
So you have to find the folder with the new name you gave to the new catalog.
Tip:
Use the menu Help > System Info of the organizer to find the location of the current catalog.
The new catalog should be on the same folder than the current one.
This catalog contains a file named catalog.pse6db. Double click on this file to open the catalog with the new catalog.
