Lightroom: Rename Photo remembers last number used

When I do a Rename Photo... (F2) in LR 3.6, it would be great if the field Start Number defaulted to one after the last number reached in the previous rename, instead of the same exact number used as the previous start, as obviously, most of the time you are not going to want to have duplicate numbers on new files. Used iView Media Pro 10 year ago, and it was able to deal with this situation perfectly.

And if I wanted to be really picky, I could complain about Start Number not letting me use any numbers like 000 as my starting point, so I could have ripps_106-000 as a file number (making each set an even 1000 images, not 999), but that's life.

I agree that more rename flexibility such as this would be good, although if Adobe simply added a rename function to the SDK, a variety of renaming plugins would spring up soon thereafter.

If you don't mind dabbling in lua, and using a multi-step procedure for renaming your files, you can configure your own renaming functions using the FileRenamer plugin.
