I've cropped out a picture of a flower from a picture that I took, and I'm wanting to take that new cropped picture of the flower and turn it into a background page where I could add other pictures to it...like a collage with the flower being the background and add two or three photos to the background layer creating a collage.

First of all the picture of your flower is the background. Have a look under the layer`s section to see if it is flattered if not flatten it,then it will become your background. Then you can add your photographs, and put them where you want. Remember each photo you add must be a layer via copy from the background. If you add say, another 3 flower`s these are layer`s and you can move them round until you are happy. In the panel on the left, you should have a background, and three layer`s for the three flowers. I hope this helps. if not tell me where you are stuck. Below you can see a picture of a Tree thats mine, and i figured the answer myself.

Such as cropping a person out with a dark background on the photo, and putting that person on another photo with a much nicer background, Thanks in advance!

every picture I download to edit already has a border on it -- this did not happen yesterday -- my first day with Photoshop.
I can edit fine, but when I to add a foreground and then adjust to opacity, I get nothing but a checkered ugly picture -- with no photo at all.
Can someone help?

Checkered? You mean the transparency preview?

What you are describing is a transparent layer. Are you adding a layer from the background. Add a layer copy via background. This will work, but remember you can`t work on them both at the same time. When you are satisfied flatten the layer, and thats your final result. You still can adjust it i. e. exposure, sharpen, but you must make sure you are happy with the result you have got before you flatten it.

Use the Lasso tool, and then go round your Logo. When you have done that use the Move tool while holding down the alt key,and then drag it over to your picture. You have created a layer. You then can move your Logo where you want it. Using the Eraser tool go round your Logo erasing the bits that you do not want,be careful not to go too near your Logo. When you are satisfied, then you can flatten the layer hope this helps.

I have answered this above! You have 1 picture, and then you want to add an image to it. The image you want to add to your picture. Using the lasso tool go round the image you want to add to your picture. Then using the Move Tool drag it across to the picture you wanted to add your image to. You can move it around to where you want it. Using the Eraser Tool go round your image Erasing the parts you don`t want. Be careful not to erase part of of your image. When you are sure where you want it,go to the Layers Menu at the bottom you will see Flatten Image. Make very sure that you are satisfied? Then Flatten the Layer. Hope this helps. If not tell me what you are stuck on. I am trying to do a tutorial on this subject. Thats the picture of my Tree up above.I solved that one out myself. Has the saying goes it`s easy when you no the answers.

Has i take it you want to add the Logo underneath "I Love Jesus" Do you just want to add the words,if so where do you want to add them on your picture of Jesus. Using the Marque Tool put it across the words, then use the Move Tool drag it across to the picture where you want it,using the Eraser Tool remove all of the Pink has much has possible. You can move it around to where you want it. When you are satisfied go to the Layer list at the bottom you will see Flatten Layer, but don`t do this until you are completely satisfied. Hope this helps.

Hi:
i have windows 7 home 64 bit & Ps CS6 extended
i have searched high & low for the answer to my question but i think i may not be asking it correctly in the faq's section.
so, i'm hoping someone here will help me. : )
Let's say I have an image open and I want to open an other one in order to combine the two images. How do i go about doing that?
eg: say i have a image of a balloon and an other of a little girl and i want to put the balloon image in the picture with the girl ...
in inkscape i just open a canvas > draw > then go to open > choose an image and boom it's right there on my canvas. but in Ps when i open a file it opens in it's own window or canvas.
i've tried everything on my own but just cannot seem to figure it out. i sure would appreciate your help more than you know. i've been reading through the "manual" or how to guide but haven't been able to pin point the answer i need.
Thank you Thank you sooooooooo much for your time. I'm feeling pretty frustrated b/c it seems like it should be simple enough to figure out on my own. errrrg.
Have a great day/night : )
peace,
kara

I have been doing my best to provide a tutorial on moving picture to picture has above. I. 2 pics. Bowl, Orange, 2.Using the Marquee Tool go round the Orange has shown.3.Using the Move Tool with your finger on the alt key drag it over to the Bowl picture. 4.Put the Orange in the bowl, has the arrow indicates the Orange is still the same, ( I forgot to do a pic. of the Orange in the front of the Bowl)
5.Using the Eraser Tool you will be revealing the bowl when you start to erase the Orange, and you should end up like the pic at the end.
I must emphasise my background is simple, Green. In each peoples case the background will be different. One member said moving a Balloon, into a child`s hand. Round her Balloon the sky may be blue, with Clouds, and there maybe a bit of a building. A member mentioned this, about the background being different in each case( Picture Background) Thats the awkward bit?

Yes just follow the instructions up above. It`s the same principal. If it`s just a face use the Lasso Tool go round the new face. Then with your finger on the alt key using the Move Tool drag your new face over the old one. Then as i mention up above about the background. When you have got the face over the old one, then free transform it to get it in perspective. At the top in the menu bar there is a tiny icon of a Chain, click on this, and it puts it in perspective. If you can see any of the old face,Free Transform the new face,so it covers the old one. When you you are happy with it then flatten the Layer. Hope this helps. If not i will do a tutorial like up above.
