Removing 'files' for people who do not have PS really hurt our business. Some programmers we work with encountered the problem mid-project. Ouch! Not sure why you would remove the feature and doing so retroactively, with no proper warning, was an extremely problematic move that cost my business a lot of money and caused much friction with clients.

I don't understand. What do you mean with "removing files"?

Sorry, I wasn't clear – removing the 'extract' feature from the CC files.

Do you mean the composite layer they include in PSD files with Maximize Compatibility enabled? If not, could you describe the "extract" feature that people without PS use? For other apps to be able to read a multilayer PSD file, I only know of Maximize Compatibility. Is this a feature that only scripters or other such programmers can access?
