How can I REMOVE all the Facebook Friend tags from Adobe Premiere Elements 10?

I do not want them to show as an option when I am tagging my pics anymore.

This is causing an issue when using People Recognition.

For the photos that are not 'recognized', I click on the photo and start typing the name that should be tagged to it, however, most of the tags that come up are the Facebook ones, and I can not find the tag I am looking for.

For example, I start typing 'Cha...' and the Facebook tag for Chad comes up, but I do not see the Adobe Elements tag for Chad, which is the one I really want.

So I guess that part of the problem is that not all the Adobe Elements tags show up when typing an answer for 'Who is this?' when using the People Recognition feature.

Any advice?
I thought if I could get rid of all the Facebook tags, this would help to alleviate the issue.

Thanks!

Chad

If you have a Facebook friend named Chad and a separate, unrelated Person Keyword Tag for Chad, they should both be listed separately (the Facebook one will have a FB icon next to the name, the Person Keyword will have the thumbnail from the Keyword Tags panel next to the name). So typing in "Chad" should list them both. If you are not seeing the Person Keyword Tag one, removing the Facebook list of friends will not cause it to appear.

Here is a screen shot of me performing a similar task, note I've only typed in "Jan" and two Janie's appear, one from Facebook and one from Keywords.

At this point we'll need to further investigate what is happening on your side. Can you post some screen shots?

Hello,

This issue happens with the 'Who is this?' functionality even if I am not using People Recognition.

As you can see above, when I start to enter 'Chad...', I should have the option of the Facebook AND the Elements tag for Chad, but I only see the Facebook tag.

My 'Who is this?' functionality has always had this issue, even before I imported the Facebook Friends, it just seems worse now with the additional Facebook tags showing up.

Sometimes the 'Chad...' Elements tag will show up, other times it will not. This goes for any and all tags, not just Chad.

The 'Who is this?' function just seems to show the list of tags that it feels like, and this changes on a case by case basis.

Thanks!

The Who is This is just a shortcut to the People Recognition, it uses the same technology, just a slightly different interface (instead of searching a set of images for faces, you are looking a single image where faces have already been found and need identification).

In this screen shot, I can see you have a Chad Album category (which cannot be selected for People Recognition (or Who is this?)). I don't see Chad listed in the Keyword Tags panel, but it may be there, just listed in a different part of the list. Could you scroll up/down the list and redo the screen shot to show Chad on the list? Or do you not have Chad listed under Keyword Tags?

Hello, if you look at the bottom right of the screenshot, I previously added the Elements Tag for Chad, just so that you could see that it does indeed exist properly.

There are times that 'Who is this?' does offer up the Elements Chad tag as an option, then other times not.

Ah, I see. Well, the reason it is not offering it is because the tag is already applied. Remove the Chad tag you have and then identify the face with Who is This.

When you identify a face, that person's tag is added. If the tag is already applied, the People Recognition basically thinks that someone else in the picture is already Chad and skips over the name.

Yeah...I was wondering if you might say that! I just added the tag so that you could see that indeed 'Chad' is a valid Elements tag. Even before the tag is applied, it still would not give the 'Chad' Elements tag as an option.

I just went to another picture that does NOT have any 'Chad' tags applied, and the only option that shows up in the 'Who is this?' is the option for the Facebook 'Chad' tag. So still stuck!

I super appreciate your help on this though Brett, thanks!

Hi Brett!

I uploaded the pic above to show that the issue exists on a photo that does not have any 'Chad' tags previously applied.

I accidentally added another 'Chad' elements tag, but left it in place so that you can see that it does show some Elements tags some of the time, but it does not show the 'Chad' Elements tag that you see in the lower right of the screenshot.

I don't want to have the facebooks names to come up. How do I remove them. I have lots of facebook friends, but most aren't in my pictures on photoshop elements 10, so don't want the names showing up.

I type in Amanda and get my daughter's facebook one, which I have deleted the tag for. Another Amanda facebook friend, a Amy. But her tag that I do want to use isn't listed.

Really need to just get rid of it all together.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Bobbie!

I still haven't found a solution for the same problem that I am having.

I am unable to:

1) Remove the facebook friends
or
2) Get the 'Who is this?' functionality to show me all the tags that it should be showing

I played around with this a bunch, and here is what I discovered:

In order for a name to be suggested on the list when typing to identify the face, that tag had to have been created by identifying a face. So if you went to the Keyword Tags panel and clicked the Green Plus and choose New Keyword Tag, named it "Chad" and then you did a "Find People for Tagging" or "Add a Missing Person" search, when you start to type in "Chad", the keyword you created outside of the People Identification workflow will not be recognized as a person tag, even if that tag is in the People category.

If you want the name to appear in the suggestion list, and not be a Facebook friend, you have to create that tag by doing a people recognition search and typing in the name (and not accepting one of the suggestions). This will create a new tag that is identified as a person for use when identifying further faces.

In PSE10, facebook friend list is stored at -
C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\10.0\Organizer\OLS\facebook-contactList.xml

If you rename/delete 'facebook-contactList.xml' file, then facebook contacts won't be shown in PSE.
