Does anyone know of a way to remove obscure file formats from the 'format' pulldown in Photoshop's save as dialogue?

Example: Im a retoucher with a pre-press background.
The last time I needed to create a DCS 2.0 file was about 15 years ago. It is such a fringe format these days - I don't need it there. It would be great to be able to remove this and many more formats.

It would make the process of selecting a file format slightly faster with less choices to identify.

No, there is no way to remove most of the file formats from the Save As list.
