Lightroom Classic: Remove files missing message

I lost all files on my external hard drive. When shipping it to have them recovered, it was lost. I have found a way to save some important images by making screenshots and saving them as jpegs in photoshop. It was working so well and all of a sudden, the message saying that the files are offline or missing is on top of the photos. Of course, they cannot be located and I'm hoping that someone can tell me how to remove that message.

Sorry to hear that! Are you aware of this script https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/extract-previews-for-lost-images-lightroom.html that might help you extract the JPEG previews that are still left in your Lightroom's preview cache?

Grab this one instead, as it adds back some missing metadata in addition to the previews: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/preview-extraction

To find missing photos, go to "All Photographs" in the library module, Library>Find All Missing Photos

Sorry to hear your predicament. If you know that the files are truly missing, gone as opposed to misplaced, it might be easier just to set up a new library and read in the extant files. Thereafter always keep a duplicate external drive plus one in the cloud.
