Photoshop Elements doesn't delete your files without your express command to do so. If you want to delete files, you still have to confirm that you want to do more than just remove the file reference from the catalog/database. Uploading files through sync with Photoshop.com will not delete the files from your hard drive. Even deleting the files from Photoshop.com will not delete the corresponding files from you computer.

But, if you have uploaded the files to Photoshop.com, this is considered a backup and you can restore this backup. All you have to do is sync up the web site with your computer. This will download the files that are missing.

However, if your files have become disconnected in the catalog, that doesn't necessarily mean they have been deleted. But they are not considered missing in terms of syncing. The best option is to reconnect the files (disconnection happens when the file has been moved, renamed, or deleted outside of the Elements Organizer). If the files have actually been deleted from the computer for some reason, then delete the file references from the Organizer and then resync to download the files.

How do you sync up the web site with your computer? Also, I have all my photos individually in the organizer, but when I changed computers, lost the album collections on my computer. Can this be downloaded or synced to recover in that form? Thanks. cpe

Hi

You can use photoshop express uploader to sync the assets from your online account to the desktop . You can download it from the link http://www.photoshop.com/tools . Let me know , if you face any issue using it .

To sync Photoshop Elements with Photoshop.com:

1. Sign into your Photoshop.com account through Photoshop Elements: From the bottom of the Welcome Screen or the top of the Editor or Organizer.

2. In the Organizer, go to Edit>Preferences>Backup/Synchronize.

3. Put a check in the box "Backup/Sync is on".

4. Select your options for how you would like to back up your files. A. All files that are not in an Album. B. Selecting individual Albums. C. Your entire Elements Organizer Catalog.

I have crashed my computer and when I reinstalled Elements 8 my organizer shows alot of yellow question marks on some of my thumbnail images. These were all backed up before my crash.
How can I get my backed up pictures to reapear on my computer?

This should mean you've backed up your files to Photoshop.com. Here is how to restore them from an online backup:

1. Sign into your Photoshop.com account. (From the Welcome Screen, or at the top of the Organizer).
2. Go to File>Reconnect>All Missing Files.
3. Click the Browse button as it starts to search for your files.
4. Click the "Check Online" button in the lower left to pull a copy of a file from the web site. If this button is grayed out, it means Photoshop Elements didn't upload the file to Photoshop.com.

I have photoshop elements 7. I'm setting up a new computer. I went into my backup/sync as above to retrieve my photos from my online storage. My album names were all imported into my organizer, but no picutures. How do I get my pictures into the organizer? Thanks.

There should be no trick here. The pictures should download along with the Albums. But the Albums will download a lot faster (it's just text after all). It could be that the images are queued and processing. I'd check the sync status (click the little safe icon at the bottom and choose "View Backup/Synchronization Status".

I have elements 8 and I never saw a way or welcome screen to set up an account. Is that because I already have one. I also do not see an organizer for anything. I see the organizer in photoshop.com only when I upload from there

In the top right of Photoshop Elements you should see a button that looks like a house. This will open the Welcome Screen. Next to that will be a button that says "Organizer" which will open the Organizer application.

Thanks Brett, I still see nothing. I have had elements for years all of them but really use cs4, I just figure since I am subscribed in here and am upgrading it seems that there was more perks that I may be missing. I am attaching a screen shot below

Well Brett, I have been losing my mind for days. When I become obsessed there you have it. Thanks for putting me out of my misery, lol. So at any rate do I need to purchase 10 for extra features, as I am getting ready for cs6. Or can I have the same perks once I upgrade to plus, thank you so much. I think I also asked in another thread can I change my user name to my business
Images by Ileen. In the process of getting everything set up after MM is done. I have also gone pro on smug and figure I would have both, thanks for your help, Ileen

While there are extra features with Plus on Photoshop.com, to get the full set of features available you would need to upgrade to Photoshop Elements 10. Upgrading to Photoshop CS6 will not get you these features either, as there is no tie-in between a Plus membership and the professional line of products.

You can change your Photoshop.com account name by going to the My Account section (available under the "Me" menu at the top of the web page).

Thanks again Brett, so is it worth the extra loot for elements if I am going to be getting cs6. I guess if there was a list so I can see that would help, but I have been looking and have found nothing that states what the added features would be with elements and without. Sorry to be a pain there was just a special for 49 bucks, even cheaper that with my napp discount

Value is going to be determined by what you plan on using from a Plus membership. It does give you extra storage space on Photoshop.com, but you can get the same space cheaper if all you want is space. There are also additional slideshow templates on Photoshop.com, if you plan on showing off you images that way. But most of the rest of the extra features are Photoshop and Premiere Elements downloadable content (stuff that gets downloaded directly into the application), so Photoshop CS6 doesn't gain anything from your Plus membership.

Not many people buy both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Generally it's Lightroom that is paired with one or the other. If you are getting Photoshop CS6, I wouldn't really recommend getting Photoshop Elements or a Plus membership.

Thanks again Brett, I am a software nut that is why I feel the need for all of them. The plus I am getting to replace my pro gallery from Apple and I use it for business so will have a lot of video and will need the extra space to accommodate and host it basically. I have lightroom but do not use it much. I think I will just get the plus and start with the extra 20gb and see if that is enough. Thanks again for your help

I had photoshop elements 10 and did everything they asked me to do , out of a 1000 pictures I only got 58, I notice that other people had the same problem of having several hundred to a thousand and only getting 58 or 68 uploaded to their storage site. I am furious for two reasons I have only had my elements10 for two years and now they don't use it anymore , I could crop, tint etc. In this storage place you can't do a darn thing. What was the point of sending them to a storage site if they were going to not send them all. Why didn't they just tell us to do back up disk so that they didn't get lost. Even better yet stop ripping their customers off by selling them programs that no longer work after a couple of years just because they figured out a new way to make money off of us. Its kinda like a virus protector that you pay a zillion dollars for year after year after year. I have had several photo shop programs over the years and have never had them do this . I am angry and frustrated because it is a nightmare to get all of your pictures back and if they screwed it up then they are lost forever. You would think those geniuses would have figured this out before they shut things down. I will never purchase anything from them again. I asked Adobe for help a year ago to help me get my pictures and get me into my account and they sent me a password reset. Apparently they can't read either. Does anyone have any advise on how I can get my pictures I have an HP laptop windows 7. I had adobe photoshop elements 10 with inspirations. I had many pictures that I had cropped, tinted, framed etc I spent hours and hours working on these. Due to a recent fire in my home these are the only pictures of my family I have left. Any advise would be great, I am not all that computer savey so keep it simple guys ok.

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

The Photoshop.com image hosting service was closed about a year an a half ago. It is no longer possible to upload or download images to this site. This was an optional service for Photoshop Elements customers where you could store photos online in addition to having them on your hard drive. There was a limited amount of online storage available for free for Elements customers, and was not related to any specific number of images. It is possible that 58 or so files may have filled up this space, depending on size and format.

Backing up to a disk (whether secondary hard drive or CD/DVD) is another option offered before the Photoshop.com uploads feature and continues to be available today.

Photoshop Elements 10 still operates without regard to this website feature. The ability to crop, tint, etc have not been taken away and are still available. There is no ripoff here, we release and sell new versions to add new features, but no one is obligated to purchase upgrades. We do not shut down old versions when new versions released.

If your computer, or at least hard drive survived the fire, then your images will still be accessible with or with Photoshop Elements or Adobe. From where are you trying to access your images at this time?
