Photoshop: Recording adjustments per picture to a data file resembling a recorded action.

I would like to see the history of adjustments made to an image saved to a text file. Something like:
Edit abc.jpg creates abc.jpg.adj (adj for ADJustments)
Contents of abc.jpg.adj:
image: d:/pic/austin/abc.jpg
date: 2012.0524 9:34 AM

auto tone
brightness +2
contrast +2
auto contrast
save 11 baseline

Based on the EXIF data detailing the shooting settings, this adjustment data would act as an error measurement to create a feedback loop.

The exact data needed is already provided in the action record feature. Just copy what is shown in the detail of a recorded action to a text file named after the image file.

"Why don't you just use an action if it already works?". Actions have to be recorded in advance and must be used on many pictures to be of any use. This feature would record the exact finishing touches on a picture by picture basis.

You might want to look at Preferences -> General -> History Log

Chris,
There appears to be no detail about which adjustments were done:
2012-05-24 11:44:41 Photoshop launched
2012-05-24 11:45:04 File DSC00349.JPG opened
2012-05-24 11:45:19 File D:\pic\austin\barton.creek\2012.0518.barton.creek\sony\DSC00349.JPG saved
2012-05-24 11:46:06 File DSC00349.JPG closed
2012-05-24 11:46:06 Photoshop quit

The levels adjustment I did does not show up.

When you record it as an action, you see:
levels
preset kind: custom
adjustment: levels adjust...
levels adjustment:
channel: composite channel
Gamma: 1.1

The label "history log" does not seem to be appropriate when compared against the history window which shows every step done to the picture. Open-close log would be much more accurate.

If you were billing a client for processing time, this log could be useful.

Knowing what you did to tweak a picture is worth infinitely more than when you did it.

Let's add to the feature list:
Beef up history log to show adjustment history (as shown in history window) with a detail option to show everything shown in a recorded action had one been recorded for each individual image processed.

Thank you,
Brian

Check the options - the history log should be capable of recording everything that goes into history, plus some.

Chris,
You're brilliant. That's almost exactly what I need. With this and the EXIF data, I can see what error resulted from a given setup.

The one thing missing is actions details. I have a number of standard actions that I make use of. The log records only their area and name:
Play action brighten.sharpen of set Default Actions

This one has 6 steps and is subject to change on whim. I sometimes change the specific settings for a batch if they are, for instance, extra dark.

Thank you!!!!

Brian
