PS/LR: Record process for each image

During post, I typically round-trip between LR and PS and I may use one or several plugins (Nik, Topaz, OneOne, Photomatic, etc.) to stylize an image. I'd like to be able to record information in either the metadata or an attached/associated note file to document whatever plug-ins and settings I've used so a particular style can be repeated in another image.

Photoshop can do that if you enable document history metadata.

Preferences -> General -> History Log -> Metadata, then choose how much detail you wish to record (it can get huge if you're not careful).

I use custom metadata for that now, but having it automated would be tits.

And since custom metadata is not being stored in xmp it makes me uneasy.

So, in Lr, I suggest, for now, either bastardizing a spare IPTC field for such notes, or installing a custom metadata plugin, e.g. CustomMetadata.
