After upgrading from Lightroom 5.0 to 5.2, I have received two blue screen of death while using lightroom. Both occurrences were while in the develope module, and I have not seen any BSOD during any other use of the PC. They are 0X101 (on 9/24) and 0X1E (on 9/29) The first one caused a loss of the LR catalog and when I relaunched Lightroom 5, it acted like it was the first time it had opened. I had to point Lightroom to a backup of the catalog and consequently lost data. This is twice in 1 week. Any clues as to why? I am running a 8 core AMD processor with 32 GB memory and an AMD Firepro 4900 graphics card with the latest driver. I have not seen any errors in Lightroom 5.0 or earlier versions, in fact, I have not had any issues with Lightroom till this latest version.

BSODs are caused by bugs in the OS, bugs in low level drivers, or hardware problems. They cannot be caused by applications. What can happen is that Applications call parts of the OS, drivers, or hardware that has the low level problem.

As for the error codes: those are not useful without the rest of the information from the bluescreen (identifying which module caused the problem, and what the nature of the problem is).

If we get the full text of the bluescreen, we might be able to narrow down the problem on your system.

Test your ram (Lr uses a lot of ram, more in develop module), all it takes is one bad bit, to cause a BSOD - maybe Lr5.0 wasn't reaching that bit).
