Maps works fine in the newest version of LR, 8.1.

Why does the title of your topic state LR 6.x? If that is the version of LR you are using Right the map doesn't work anymore. Google changed how their map system is accessed and since LR 6.x is OLD software it will NOT be updated.

Adieu Adobe with all your products (i.e. "Rest in Peace") , as I'm not interested in any subscription of any product. I've bought Lightroom, starting with version 3, and it seems to end now with version 6.x.
For me it is no old software, as I'm using it ervery day, so again : Good bye Adobe

As you haven’t paid a dime to Adobe since you bought Lightroom 6 (three years ago?) and apparently don’t plan to pay anything in the future anyway, I don’t think they will be devastated to learn that such a loyal customer is leaving them.

You may want to also say good-bye to Google as it was Google that pulled the rug out from under your, Maps, not Adobe.  Adobe didn't change anything - Google did.  Had Google not changed their licensing algorithm and interface technology for 3 party applications using Google Maps such as Lightroom (and it seems thousands of others as well), the maps in your version 6.x of Lightroom would still be functional.

I'm not going to say that Adobe hasn't done some things I don't care for (e.g. abandoning Perpetual Licenses for PS and LR) but killing the map module in older versions is not one of them.  Do you really expect a SW company to continue making changes to software that is several versions out of date?  Microsoft doesn't do this.  Google doesn't do this.  Symantec doesn't do this.  Apple doesn't do this.  In fact no SW company does this.

So, if you want to protest Adobe no longer supporting Perpetual License models for SW by all means move on to some other product and trust that the other product doesn't follow suit.  But, don't blame Adobe for Google's decision to change the rules for Google Maps.
