Photoshop 2020: Polygonal lasso tool freezing - macOS 10.14.6

My polygonal lasso tool froze while I was teaching a group of students (embarrassing!) on a University system: 18 students using iMacs. This is such a useful tool normally and allows good control for selecting areas.

What version of Photoshop? What OS/version are you running on? Using a mouse? Or tablet?

Hi, I was using the latest version of Photoshop, with a Mouse. OS Mojave version. My University had just updated everything.

Is it continuing to free or hang?  What else are you running at the same time?  How complicated is your selection?

It didn't allow me to make a selection at all so no complication at all. I tried to click and get my first anchor, and nothing happened. I admit I was embarrassed because this was one of the first things I was demonstrating to first year undergraduates and I moved quickly to another tool suspecting the upgrade meant that it needed me to do something differently. But online I've now realised that a number of people have reported the tool as freezing on this new upgrade. I'll get the uni technicians to work on it, but I'm guessing it also needs Adobe to do something.

Very weird.  I've tried two different Macs (and two PCs) this morning -- all are working fine.  There must be one (or more) additional elements involved here...

You're starting with a new, blank file?  Are other tools working?

Thanks,
David

Other tools were working glad to say. I'm not in college until Monday now but will try everything again then. Thanks for your efforts meanwhile.

Hi Ganter, the only issue I'm aware of are freezes when using Wacom tablet on Windows which is a driver issue. I'm not aware of any issues on macOS 10.14. Let us know if you have reproducible steps.
