I work with Photoshop 12, but now I have a Nikon D5500. Some months ago I asked why I cannot work in Raw with the Nikon. They told me that there was coming an update. The update came, but not for the Nikon D5500. I want to know if you can give an update for the Nikon. I always love it to work with Photoshop, but now I cannot work with it. I downloaded the trial Ps13 and than I can work with it. But I bought the Ps12 not long ago.

A new version of Elements is released every year around this time. Adobe and every other software company only updates their current versions of software for new cameras. PSE13 was the current version when support fort he D5500 was added. You might want to wait until PSE14 is available in a month or two.

Adobe does make the free DNG Converter an option, wher eyou can use that to convert a folder full of raw files (NEFs) to DNGs and then those DNGs can be worked on in older Adobe software.

The process of creating a DNG packages the same raw data into a new envelope that includes camera profile information, which is really what Adobe software needs to know about each new camera.

The DNG Converter is here:

The one trick to know when using it is that when you select the source folder, it is a folder you should single-click on to select, rather than double-click on to open. You won't see any of your image files because you're selecting a folder.
