Lightroom: Raw files taken in Raw+Jpg won't import in Lightroom 4

I have a Canon Rebel XS EOS 1000D. I have Lightroom 4.3. My camera was on the list of supported raw file formats. If I take pictures in just raw it imports fine, but if I take pictures in raw+jpg it will import the jpg and not the raw. When I try to import the raw it will say lighroom doesn't support the file format. I changed the settings so the raws and jpgs are separated but it didn't help. Please help.

This is too weird! - consider posting a pair or two in a zip so others can see if reproducible. It's either the files or the host processing the files - it'd be nice to know which...

Sorry I took so long to reply. I'm not sure how I would send you the raw file because I don't have a way to view raw files other than in Lightroom. I can upload a raw in iphoto but the picture just turns out black so I'm not sure if it actually uploaded anything of use.

zip a pair of offending files (raw file and partner jpg file) and post the zip using yousendit.com or dropbox.com.

Doable?
