Elements; Quick escape from polygonal lasso tool

If I do my first click to start with the polygonal lasso tool, but then decide to start at a different point, I need to "undo" the first click, or basically escape from the tool to start over.  So, then I take my arrow-cursor over to the side tool-bar to click "off" on the polygonal lasso icon - in the process, it drags a long, dotted line all the way to the icon and also disorients the positioning of the graphic I'm working on.  It's irritating, and I'm thinking there must be a quick keystroke to unclick from the polygonal lasso tool without making the dramatic and disorienting long dotted line all the way to the tool icon.  In short - what is the quick escape from the tool after starting the first click?

That is quite simple James. You use the "Esc" key on your keyboard.

Thanks Jack. That's what I would have thought and it's what I do every time, but it doesn't work on my keyboard, an Apple keyboard and the escape button seems to work for other uses/applications.  Not sure what's going on here...

I am using a PC/Windows10 machine and it works perfectly.
If it never worked on your Apple machine then you're out of luck as there seem to be  no Adobe support for this product.....
Hopefully other Mac users can help you further.

Hello, Cmd+.(period) on a Mac, or CTRL+.(period) on a PC are the alternate to Escape.

Yay.  I never have used this keystroke combination.  Cmd+.(period) did the trick.  Thanks so much PEC and Jack.
