I get this PS Editor message in PSE 8.0; "Invalid numberic entry. A number between 0.01 points and 1296.00 points is required. Restored last value value." Then the editor is not working again and I have to stop the program

Hi Berend,

What field are you entering the numeric value in? What OS are you on?

Have you tried restoring your prefs? http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop...

Hello Jeffrey,

I thought I'd answer you yesterday, but I can't find it anymore.

I don't know what you mean with "What field are you entering the numeric value in? " I never entered a numeric value.

I'm using Windows 7 and I have an Intel I7 core desktop.

I have tried restoring my preferences, without any outcome.

"What field are you entering the numeric value in?"

If you are getting a numeric value error, it's usually because you have entered a value into an edit box for a some sort of setting. What are you doing when you get the numeric value error?

I haven't entered a numeric value Jeffrey.
This is what happens;
1) I start PSE 8.0 Organizer
2) I select pe 4 photo's which I like to change
3) When the workspace is ready (*showing before and after) I enter CTRL+' for lines to check the horizon, PSE editor don't react any more.
4) I get the message like I already told or I get the message "PSE - D70_411.JPG bij 16,7% (RGB/8) reageert niet"
% The Organizer is still working but the Editor don't react and I have to close it.

Greetings Berend

Does the Grid actually appear?

What are your Grid settings under Edit > Preferences > Guides & Grid? Specifically, the Numeric Values for "Guideline every" and "Subdivisions".

This is most likely what the error message is about.

Hi Brett,
Here are the numeric values:

Guidelines every: 2cm
Subdivisions: 4
Hope you have a solution now, Greetings Berend

Hello everybody at Adobe, it's almost 2 weeks ago that I gave you the numeric values. I haven't heard anything since.

Is it a solution to deinstall PSE8 and then install it again.
I then have to build up the organizer, but that's no problem.

Do you get the same error message if you go to the View menu and select Grid instead of using the keyboard shortcut?

The limit you are give (between 0.01 points and 1296.00) doesn't correspond to the Grid itself. The limits there are Guidelines: 0.06250 and 1000.00;
Subdivisions: 1 and 100.

But the mention of points suggests text is where the problem is occurring. Text does have a limit of 0.01 and 1296.00.

Make sure you are not using the text tool while attempting to activate the grid, and also make sure the the font size is set to something within this range.

If I start up PSE8 I'm sometimes too quick with going to some specific picture. I then don't wait until the messages "new pictures found" or "time to make a backup" (not the excact words) appear. I think that the troubles starts then. But I'll will keep your solution also in mind Brett. Thanks for the answer. But can you tell me if I can deinstall PSE8 and then install it again? ""Invalid numberic entry. A number between 0.01 points and 1296.00 points is required. Restored last value value." Then the editor is not working again and I have to stop the program "

I am getting the same type of error, with PSE 9, when I try to enter numerics in the print offset from center fields. You have to click on OK about 3 times to get the Error message to stop popping up. Then if you try to do anything it pops up again.

I doubt that reinstalling the program will help. There is some big time error in the way more recent versions of PSE is handling numeric input.

It is discouraging to note that this error carried over to PSE9.

There is no way that we are the first 2 people to encounter this.
