Elements 12: Google Map function not working

I am currently using PSE12 with Windows 7 and have been unable to load the Google maps screen for the last few days. All I see is a grey screen with no details and it is impossible to get any results from typing a location into the search bar. It appears that this has happened to other people on previous occasions and I would like to know what can be done to rectify the situation

In my experience Adobe are very reluctant or even sometimes not prepared to look at a problem if you are not using the latest version of their software. They certainly do not seem to be too concerned with this problem. I have started looking at alternate options because there seems to be no way to talk to the the software support people and you are expected to get your problem solved through the user forum.

I am having the same problem with PSE13.
Last year same problem existed and an Adobe employee fixed the problem after some time.
I expect Adobe to fix the problem also this time as it looks the same and the fix could be the same.

Wrong, really sorry.

Last year Google disabled the ability for other softwares to 'talk' to their own map software. Not a single bit of Adobe code did change, before or after that Google decision. No Adobe employee solved the problem (they announced that the problem was solved).  You can imagine that in the meantime there were negociations between both giants  to allow the map feature to work as before (lots of $$$...) You don't expect them to give you public details, don't you?
The problem did not exist with PSE2018 which was coded to comply with the new 'talking' rules of Google Maps.

Recent history is showing that any feature offered by Elements and dependent on third party softwares is not guaranteed to work indefinetely, even with the 'perpetual' licenses. Not only with Google, but with  Facebook or other social media, with Microsoft when their last Windows update creates dramas... Only the latest version is supported.

I am not as optimistic as you seem to be.

Are you saying I could solve my issue by buying PSE2018 but it may reappear the following day?

Not quite.

I am sure your issue would be solved with PSE15 or PSE2018 now (hic and nunc...)
but if Googles decides to no longer accept the present procedure calls from external softwares, the issue would be the same.

Same for Facebook, Microsoft, Apple...

Yes, we are living dangerously.
