Elements: PSE11 needs to be able to easily add new photos to an existing event.

There is currently no way to add new photos to an existing PSE11 Event from Media View. It is impossible to either select a group of photos and "add to existing event". It is also not possible to list events in the right hand "Tag Panel" and then drag and drop them onto photos as in previous versions of PSE. This makes adding new photos to existing events far too hard and a considerable worsening of workflow over previous version.

It is possible I know to add photos to a NEW event from Media View, but the ability to add to an EXISTING event is badly needed. I am aware that the new style events in PSE11 also have a date range and new photos may fall outside of that range. However, it should be possible to automatically expand the range to include new photos.

i agree this would be an incredibly helpful feature, too. i'm currently migrating my photos over from iPhoto and the library's kind of a mess. this feature would help me grab the onesie-twosies that are out floating around that need a home.

Is there any plan to modify this function?

If you open the event in the Events View down at the bottom of the screen is an "Add Media" button - this allows you to add new photos to an existing event.

Thanks, this works OK - especially if you use advanced settings

Yeah, but that screen is next to useless, providing no way to search and filter the photos you wish to add!

I just discovered that if you use the Add Media, and click advanced, you can select by tag, and other things.

In PSE11, the functionality is there as explained by Mary.

In PSE12, the Events and Places are listed in Tag panel as well where one can quickly drag drop to associate multiple media in one go(same as in versions earlier than PSE11).

Mary, thanks for your suggestion.

vaishali, I totally disagree with you that Mary's suggestion, although helpful, means "the functionality is there". It is still far too clumsy a way of doing something that should be very simple.

I never said adding photos was impossible, I just said that it was far too difficult and much worse than in previous versions of PSE. The fact that you have added this ability back to PSE12 just confirms this.

I have to say, that after experiencing horrible panic when my people tags did not appear to make it over the upgrade, and reimporting the catalog, etc, before I finally found the view option - and then having to fight through this issue of figuring out how to add things to an existing event - on top of the breaking of the sync with photoshop.com, and then the total shutdown..with the the cavalier shunting over to revel, which is not supported on windows (which I use), and also mangles the display of photos uploaded from my Android phone (supposedly just the thumbnails, but that is what you are looking at on the main page) - my final verdict is that I am not happy, but this version sucks less than I initially thought it did. I am not happy about all that we lost, but I do like some of the improved ease in improving photos, and I don't think I mind the interface as much as I did at first. Of course, there was nowhere to go but up..but I might even consider trying PSE 12..but on a machine that can't accidentally eat my catalog..
