Can I use PSE 14 with my iMac (El Capitan) photos app library as the designated editing software? At this point, it is not possible when running PSE 13 and Yosemite 10.10.5.

Since this is an old post you already know this. For the sake of others happening to land here see other forum posts. The answer is yes you can run it but no you do not want to enter those bug infested waters.

I read on adobe website https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/system-requirements.html
that PSE 14 is compatible with MAC OS 10,11.
But here & elsewhere and speaking to friends, I read that it isn't.  Even adobe themselves say it needs a patch, after over year since the release of MAC OS 10,11
...
Why then is Adobe saying that it is compatible? Is this contempt of adobe PSE clients? Misleading publicity is a cirme against consumers.
I've been using PS since PS4 but I'm not going to buy PSE14 until Adobe fix this compatibility issue.
The fix is to switch to GIMP which is shame as I would gladly buy PSE14 if it were compatible.

I finally was able to do it by installing this extension: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/external-editors-for-photos/id1074021862?mt=12
Still I can't tell where Elements 14 is saving my photos!

If you mean by "this code" the extension? The extension is free, and you can then use PSE 14 as your editor (it's an option when you click "edit" in photos). It definitely will NOT make it run faster. Just makes it usable.

Is there an update on the fix(es) that Adobe needs to make for Elements 14?
I still experience issues like slowness, crashes, on the latest MacBookPro OSX El Capitan and as I read on this site many others as well (Organizer, Raw Editor), thanks

Me, too.  I was disappointed to lose the use of PSE when I "upgraded" to El Capitan, but I have so far been unable to get a real confirmation that my OS 10.11.6 will run PSE 14 smoothly.  Please advise.
