PSD files no longer showing up in Lightroom Catalog Folders

This problem started suddenly, as this was working just yesterday. In Lightroom 5 I choose "Edit in" and then edit my file in Photoshop CC. I hit "Save" to save the file. Usually, it shows up in my catalog in Lightroom, but it stopped. In order to see it, I have to use "all photographs" even though the file is in the original folder and I haven't moved anything. I have tried closing down both programs, using different images in different folders, restarting them computer- all to no avail. I have checked my filters and there are no filters on. The images are there, in the folder, and I have even tried importing them, but it claims they are already in my catalog. I'm so frustrated :(

Things can appear to happen as you describe if you have the sort-order set to Date instead of Filename, because by Date will put new files all the way at the righthand side where you'd expect files with the current date/time to be, so scroll over there to make sure that's not where it is.

Otherwise make sure you don't have a filter set to that is filtering only for specific file types like JPG or TIF or RAW.

Test things with a file that is the only one in a particular folder so you can easily see if it shows up and the order won't matter.

No, it's not set to date-- I always check the end of my stream of images. They weren't in the folder.

What I did find out was happening is that somehow my external hard drive was in there twice, with just my new files in the new one. I had to rename my hard drive and then redirect all of the files so they began importing to the proper place. I can't figure out why it would have rendered my EHD twice?

Anyhow- problem fixed. Thanks for your help anyway, Steve! :)
