psd files have pdf icons

All my PSD icons are now PDF icons. when I click on an PDF icon that I know for sure is a PSD file, it opens in Photoshop no problem. If I edit this PSD image and save it as a PSD the icon for this saved image appears as a PDF. Wondering why all my PSD files have a PDF icon instead of a PSD icon. How could I change to the proper icon. By the way, when I click on a PDF file that is truly a PDF and not a Photoshop PSD it opens up properly as a PDF file.

That means that somehow your OS is confused about what icons go with what file extension.

What OS version are you using?

Have you recently installed other software that might have taken over ownership of those filetypes?

windows 7. Can't think of any recent software other than downloading Adobe Reader Xl. That was on March 7th, well over a month ago. It was only a few days ago that the icons changed. Should I go back and restore before March 7th?

Hmm, then something may have altered the registry entries associating file extensions with icons.
