PS 21.0.1 Windows 7
AutoRecover set to 10 mins

Working on a .jpg file, made some adjustment layers and saved as .tif
Then put computer to sleep sometime later with same file and PS open.
Had issues awaking comp from sleep so hard reboot using power switch.
Trying to open saved tif file got parsing error.
Looked in scratch disk PSAutoRecover folder - nothing.
However there was a Photoshop Temp59287857960 file, no extension.
Tried adding various exts (psd, psb, tif etc) but PS will say not valid kind of file.

How do I autorecover ? Does it even work?

Opened and resaved the original jpg file as .tif about thirty mins ago.
So far no autosave file created in PSAutoRecover folder.

Did you perform ANY operation after saving the file as a tif?
Otherwise no recovery file will be created because the saved file already existing is identical to the open image.

ok understood ... just tried it, waited 10 mins and file created, saved and file was deleted, seems to be intended behavior.

So then what good can be had from the no extension Photoshop Temp file that is left orphaned in a crash situation ?

And still trying to figure out why the tif that was saved and left opened in PS when I had to force windows restart got corrupted... ?
